Dr. Joseph Agan is a Speech-Language Pathologist in private practice in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He is a former Clinical Assistant Professor of Communication Disorders at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He studied Communication Disorders at the University of Houston. Afterwards, he worked intensely with individuals with acquired brain injury in a variety of hosptial and rehabilitation settings. In doing so, he developed an interest in assisting individuals with cognitive-linguistic, speech and language pursue meaningful vocational activities. In 2009, Joseph completed his PhD in Rehabilitation at the University of Arkansas as a Walton Distinguished Doctoral Fellow. His research has employed ethnographic methodologies to study the role of literacy practices of individuals with severe speech disorders in pursuing vocational goals and in the ongoing work of identity construction. This research sparked his motivation to incorporate design practices into everyday clinical interventions. As an independent scholar and clinician, his pursuits have evolved to include interaction design, software development and digital/visual multimodal content tailored to the communication needs of individuals with communication disorders participating in educational and paid employment activities. In 2016, he founded Metis Speech Solutions a private speech-language pathology practice with a focus on assisting individuals with communication disorders reach their career and professional goals.

David Charles Chioffi is a Professor of Graphic Design with the School of Art of the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Previously he was an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Design, and Chair of the Division of Design Arts, at Memphis College of Art in Memphis, Tennessee. A native New Englander, he completed his undergraduate degree at The Rochester Institute of Technology's College of Fine and Applied Arts, School of Art and Design in Rochester, New York; and received his graduate degree from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut. His traditional and experimental work emphasizes the sensory triality of alphabetic matrices and forms: visual, auditory and tactile, and principally, on how phonetic structures and visual architecture formulate and synthesize content. He is also the co-founder of the modality project {dot} design, with Joseph Agan, PhD, CCC-SLP. In addition to his private design practice, prior posts have included Executive Vice-President of Design and Communications, as well as Faculty Member at The Hospice Institute for Education, Training and Research, Inc. in Branford, Connecticut; and Associate Director of Packaging Design and Visual Identities, Polo Ralph Lauren Corporation in New York City.
